OutreachMissions, what a small word with such an enormous meaning. A word, when thought about, that brings to the mind almost unfathomable ponderings on the scope of it all. We believe in doing our best to follow the Great Commission to “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19), and as such feel a great calling as a church to raise up and support those who have found it in their hearts and souls to spread the word of God in whatever way that may be. When all is stripped away in this life of ours, when life is done, what is left of each of us is but what we have spread to others about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The following groups are all different and yet are on a mission. For example, the Bundle of Blankets Missions takes blankets to the poor and the Sandwich Ministry takes something so simple as a sandwich to those who consider it a feast. Consider the Angel Tree Ministry that takes away a bit of the sting of loneliness from those children whose parents cannot be physically with them at Christmastime.
The people and gifts that are sent out through these ministries aim to ease the pain of people around the world and present to them the good news of Christ Jesus. People are given a ray of hope that there are those who care. To think about how there are those amongst us who actually give up the comforts of home, family, friends and their known way of life to help teach and show a way to some who would never know -- these are our precious missionaries. They are willing to devote their lives to a mission to share the word of God in all areas of this precious and fragile world of ours. All of them are so important.
