Church CommitteesSt. Paul’s has many different councils, boards, teams, and committees to run the many ministries and services that we support. These include the Church Council (controls the financial decisions of the church), the Spiritual Council, (concerned with the spiritual decisions of the church), plus many other committees and teams. The following is a list of some of our committees and their purpose. If you have an interest in serving in any of these groups, contact the committee head found in the Committee / Ministry Leader listing.
Church Council
The Church Council serves as a central administrative body for budget and policy, as well as providing the executive management for church business matters. Church Council members serve four-year terms. Three members are elected each year, for a total of 12 members.
Spiritual Council
This Council is composed of eight members or Elders. Elders serve four-year terms, with two appointed each year at the recommendation of the pastors and the existing Spiritual Council, and following approval by the Church Council and the congregation. They serve as advisors and counselors to the pastors in the discharge of their ministry.
Board of Christian Education
This Board administers a highly successful Sunday School program for students of all ages, Rainbow Time (preschoolers' church), Nursery program, as well as the summer Vacation Bible School.
Youth Committee
This committee, along with the Youth Minister, Pastor Greg, provides support and direction for the various youth fellowship programs at St. Paul's, including missions and evangelism trips.
Membership Care Committee
Under the direction of the Minister of Pastoral Care, Pastor Stemler, this committee's goal is to implement a program of intentional care for all members. Lay Caregivers make contact with members who are ill, shut-in, or in crisis situations. The Tele-Care Ministry has volunteers who call every member of the congregation on a regular basis. The Love and Meals Ministry provides meals for those who need this service. The Lay Ministry of Prayer has volunteers who regularly pray for every member by name. All of these programs help to provide care for our members.
Evangelism Committee
The Evangelism Committee is not only concerned with evangelism in the traditional sense, but it also has several subcommittees, grouped together as Connection Ministries. With help from the entire congregation, they provide Greeters, Ushers, Welcomers, and Hosts to assist and greet members and visitors on Sunday mornings. They also have volunteers who make follow-up calls or visits to worship service visitors. They conduct new members classes several times a year, for those interested in joining St. Paul's. The committee also helps with publicity of upcoming events.
Missions' Team
The Missions' Team is responsible for missions' education at St. Paul's. The committee also identifies and recommends to the Church Council the support for evangelistic local, domestic and foreign missionary organizations in an effort to fulfill the Great Commission.
Cemetery Board
This Board supervises the operation of the cemetery and the Cemetery Superintendent. The approximate eight acre cemetery has been serving the congregation of St. Paul's Church since 1901. The cemetery is financially self-sufficient and general maintenance work is either performed by the Cemetery Superintendent, church volunteers or is hired out to private contractors. Cemetery lots are available for purchase by St. Paul's members.
Stewardship Committee
Seeing that the total stewardship needs of the church are conveyed to the congregation is the responsibility of this committee. Stewardship needs focus on the financial goals of the church, as well as use of time and talents.
Transportation Committee
The members of this committee manage the volunteer operation and maintenance of the 30-passenger bus. The bus is used by organizations for transportation to special events, as well as for transporting senior citizens to and from Friendship Village for Sunday worship services.
Other Committees:
- Altar Committee
- Audio / Visual Committee
- Building & Grounds Committee
- History & Heritage Committee
- Music Committee
As you can see, it takes many, many hands to handle all the details of running a church. We appreciate all the volunteers who offer their time and talents to God to make St. Paul's a welcoming, thriving place to worship.
