Christian EducationSt. Paul’s offers Christian Education programs for all ages, beginning with nursery age children and running through adults. The program includes Sunday School, Adult Bible Fellowship classes, Rainbow Time, Confirmation classes, and other programs, such as summer church camps, Vacation Bible School and many others.
The following includes a summary of Christian Education ministries for both adults and children. Even more information about Children's Ministries can be found on that ministry's section.
Sunday School
Classes for all ages begin at 9:45 a.m. There is a more structured Sunday School program for the 7th and 8th grade classes in preparation for confirmation. The High School class has a topical bible lesson with practical applications for a teen's life. Find out more on the Children's Ministries Sunday school page.
Adult Bible Fellowships
Several adult Sunday School classes are offered, ranging from in-depth Bible study to topical discussions involving Christian issues. Classes are also offered for peer groups to provide support in a Christian environment. The nursery and children's Sunday School programs run concurrently with the adult programs.
- Seekers (Auditorium) Traditional Bible study taught by
Ed Teter, Lee Carlson and Jill Pasteris. Studying Encouragement and Warning A Lifeguide Study on getting the most out of John's Letters.
- Spiritual Sisters (Room 204) Topical Bible study for women, taught by Jean Buelter. They are now studying How to Mentor
- The Believers (Multi-Purpose Room) Leader Eric Button. A Vision of Disipline that Disciples Visionary Parenting by Dr. Rob Rienow.
- Focus (Senior High) Seventh thru twelfth grades studying The DaVinci Code. Taught by Timothy Butler.
- St. Paul's Book Club (Room 203) A lively weekly discussion of Christian books. At this time a discussion of the book The Raggamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning . Contact Paul Daniel for more information.
- Middle School (Confirmation Room) Class for rising 8th and 9th graders. I AM: Getting to Know God A new video-based series . Taught by Bob and Heidi Aslin
RAinBOW Time
At both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday services, children ages 3 through fourth grade attend the beginning of worship and then are dismissed for age appropriate worship. For more information, see the Children's Ministry RAinBOW Time page.
Confirmation Class
The confirmation class is designed to help 7th and 8th graders grow in their faith, culminating in a public confession of faith in the Rite of Confirmation. Confirmation involves the child, parents, sponsors and the pastors. During this formal training, the Holy Bible, Evangelical Catechism and EFCA resources are used as instructional materials. Every other year(fall throught Palm Sunday), the class also meets weekly with a pastor.
St. Paul's Church Library
The Church Library is located in the hallway that leads to the sanctuary. Various books, videos, CD’s and cassettes for all ages can be found and checked out for a period of two weeks. The library staff welcomes requests or suggestions, so please leave a note in the library if you have any ideas that you’d like to share.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is a fun, summer, one-week bible program for children from 3 years old to 6th grade. A nursery and 2 year old class is also available to children of VBS volunteers. This year's VBS was a blast. Hope to see you for another great adventure next June, 2009!
King's Kids Camp
King's Kids Camp is a fun week-long church camp for kids who have completed 3rd through 6th grade. It is held at Camp Wartburg, in Southern Illinois, about 1 hour from St. Paul's. More information can be found on the King's Kids Site.
The Zone
The Zone is a fun church camp for kids who have completed 6th through 8th grade. It is held at Lake Williamson, in Central Illinois, about 1 hour from St. Paul's. More information can be found on the King's Kids Site.
