Pastor Herbert C.J. Stemler

Pastor Herbert Stemler is St. Paul’s minister of Pastoral Care. He has dedicated much of his time to visiting our those in our church who are shut-ins, hospitalized or otherwise in need of visit.

Pastor Stemler has been at St. Paul's since 1993. In 2001, he went into "semi-retirement," but no one around church could tell that by the way he keeps up his busy schedule of pastoral care. You can find him doing many things all around the church, including typically participating in the traditional worship service. His friendly smile and always helpful ways are a comfort here at church and a constant reminder that someone truly cares.

In his spare time, Pastor Stemler applies his green thumb to working with large and small plants. He owns a Christmas tree farm in Illinois that sells fresh cut Christmas trees to the public every holiday season. He also gardens and raises a variety of flowers.

Pastor Stemler earned his Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary here in St. Louis. Previously he had attended the David Ranken Jr. School of Mechanical Trades (Ranken Technical College).

A Bit of Trivia

  • Pastor Stemler enjoys Mountain Dew.
  • Vases of fresh flowers found around the church could very well have been placed there by Pastor Stemler.

Multimedia

  • Doxology by Roger Lindstrom, June 29, 2003. A video created for part of the celebration honoring his 40 years of ministry both here and elsewhere. (RealVideo)
